Outside Catrun

Early 2004 we have been busy with building a small catrun in my mother's backgarden, for the cats who live in her home. I am not allowed to make a catrun in my own garden myself unfortunately. A year later we built a second one, scroll down for photos!

The inspiration for several parts of the run come from several websites we once visited. The Zigzagcupboard is a design from Ragdoll Cattery van Bourgondië. The cats can find their way up the cupboard zigzagging away, and up they can go to the long catwalk attached to the catrun. This catwalk is inspired by the home of Bob Walker and Francis Mooney in California, USA, they have made several walkways for their cats in their home, a separate floor for the cats as it were. Besides a book with photographs (The Cats' House, available through Amazon) they built a website to show their home to everyone. The catwalkrun enables the cats to sit in the sun all day long and besides looking at the neighbours they can be close to our terrace too.

In 2005 my mother decided to build a second cat run, primarily because the first could only be used by Gennaro. He's not allowed to jump the girls all the time, so when he was in the run, the others were inside looking at him. The second run is built onto the first, against the wall of the neighbours' house and next to the terrace. The cats can see and sniff at eachother through the wire netting.
